PROFESSIONAL BATTING RECORD

Larry came all the way back from debilitating knee injury that cost him the ’88 season to become a prime candidate for the Expos’ outfield in 1990. Wearing a knee brace in ’89, he ranked third with 36 stolen bases in the Triple-A American Association and batted a strong .270. Larry, who is a polished fielder with a strong arm, led all IL outfielders with 18 assists. Brought up from Indianapolis in mid-August, he singled in his first official major league at bat after three walks. In his next game, Larry went 3-for-4, with three RBIs.

He is a natural hitter with a flawless swing. “Larry has Kirk Gibson-type competitiveness and mental toughness,” said Expos’ minor league coordinator Jerry Manual.
