On his way to becoming the first draft pick in Wild history. Goborik typically played above his head, first in the Slovak senior league, then with the national squad in the 2000 World Championships. To the delight of Minnesota management, who made him the third pick overall in the 2000 draft, he not only has survived, but thrived. Marian’s 25 goals for Trencin last year tied him for the team lead, and his 47 points were third best. It has long been a dram for Gaborik to compete in the NHL. It is the consensus opinion that Gobrik has the potential to become a franchise superstar.
